Answers To Your Common Teeth Whitening Questions
Please bring all relevant documentation, including but not limited to:
• Government-issued photo identification
• Social Security cards or ITINs for all return participants
• Income documentation (W-2, 1099 forms, self-employment records, rental income, etc.)
• Supporting documents for deductions and credits (mortgage interest, childcare, education expenses, charitable contributions, etc.)
• Bank account and routing information for direct deposit
(Refer to our full checklist flyer for complete details.)
1. E-Filed Tax Returns
• With Direct Deposit Refund: Typically 10–21 days for the IRS to process and deposit your refund.
• Without Direct Deposit (Paper Check): Usually 3–4 weeks for the IRS to issue a paper check.
• If You Owe Taxes: Processing is usually faster; the IRS will accept your payment and post it to your account within a few days.
2. Paper Filed Tax Returns
• Paper returns take significantly longer. Refunds can take 6–8 weeks, sometimes longer during peak filing season.
3. Factors That Can Delay Processing
• Errors on your return (missing SSN, wrong math, etc.)
• Incomplete or missing forms
• Claims for certain credits (Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit)
• Amended returns (Form 1040-X) take up to 16 weeks or more
4. How to Check Your Refund
• Use the IRS tool: “Where’s My Refund?”
• You need your Social Security number, filing status, and exact refund amount to check status.
YES
Life happens — but missing the tax filing deadline can lead to penalties and stress.
Here’s what you need to know and what steps you can take.
If You Owe Taxes
■ Failure-to-File Penalty: 5% of unpaid taxes per month (up to 25%).
■ Failure-to-Pay Penalty: 0.5% of unpaid taxes per month (up to 25%) plus interest.
■ Combined Penalties: The IRS adjusts so the total doesn’t exceed 5% per month.
If You’re Due a Refund
■ No penalties if you’re getting money back.
■ You must file within 3 years to claim your refund. After that, it’s forfeited.
If You Can’t File on Time
■ File Form 4868 to request an extension until October.
■■ Remember: an extension gives you more time to file, not more time to pay.
If You Already Missed the Deadline
■ File as soon as possible to stop penalties from growing.
■ Set up an IRS payment plan if you can’t pay in full.
■ If you had a good reason (illness, disaster, etc.), ask for penalty relief.
■ Bottom line: If you owe taxes, file quickly to reduce penalties and interest. If you’re due a
refund, you won’t be penalized — but don’t wait or you could lose your money!
